However, this victory came at a great cost as Rauf sacrificed his life during the operation. 2. The Heroic Fight of Captain Mahiuddin Jahangir
Captain Mahiuddin Jahangir was a decorated fighter pilot in the Bangladesh Air Force. On 3 December 1971, he and his squadron were tasked with attacking the Chittagong port, which was under Pakistani control. Despite facing heavy anti-aircraft fire, Captain Jahangir led the attack with utmost courage and determination. His plane was hit and caught fire, but he managed to destroy the target and safely eject before crashing. He was captured by the Pakistani army and subjected to severe torture, but he refused to disclose any information. After enduring unimaginable torture, he was eventually executed, but this heroic act earned him the highest military award in Bangladesh, the Bir Sreshtho.
